Passage to Adulthood

Published by keagancollins under Uncategorized

A question  often aroused is about the age that a child should receive passage to adulthood.  Long ago, young men had to earn their rights to adulthood through various tasks and challenges that proved them “worthy”.  Passage from adulthood was often based on age, which would vary depending on the culture.  In our modern society, young men and women receive rights and privileges based on age.  Some other privileges must be received by taking a test or applying for a license as well.  The earliest age that a child starts to pass to an adult is at age 16 when they can apply for a driver’s license.  The most important age to a child is age 18 in the United States because at this age one is declared a legal adult and receives most of the rights.  The age when one is considered a full fledged adult is age 21, when they receive the rest of the privileges associated with being an adult.  Although this form of passage is mostly accepted, questions are often aroused as to whether or not age should determine the title of being an adult.

First Paragraph: Great Thoughts

Published by keagancollins under Uncategorized

“Great thoughts speak only to a thoughtful mind, but great actions speak to all humankind”, this quote has been used many times and has a nothing but a true and powerful meaning. The part of this quote that state “great actions speak to all humankind” is a meaningful phrase and it tells us that one must “do” to be recognized. Words are noticed, and forgotten without action. A meaning that can be derived from this quote is that words can lead to action, but without action the words mean nothing. Words are remembered only by the actions that follow, for without this the words would be meaningless. Great actions affect everyone for the better. As powerful as this meaning is, it is simple enough that it occurs in our daily lives. This quote and its meaning can be closely related to an even more common quote, “actions speak louder than words”.
